SendGrid Integration

Use the SendGrid integration to let Dawn work with your workspace-owned SendGrid account for contacts, dynamic templates, transactional sends, and campaign operations.

Before you start

• A SendGrid API key for the account Dawn should operate.
• A verified sender identity in SendGrid.
• The SendGrid account region: global or EU.
• A clear decision about which capability scopes agents should use: contact lists and segments, templates, campaigns, or all three.

SendGrid is a workspace-owned integration. Connect the shared SendGrid account once, then link the capability scopes that agents are allowed to use.

Create the SendGrid API key

1. Open Settings in SendGrid and create or reuse an API key.
2. Grant access for the APIs Dawn should use: contact management, dynamic templates, mail send, and Single Sends.
3. Copy the API key and store it safely. Dawn expects the raw key value.
4. Confirm the sender identity you plan to use is verified in SendGrid.

Connect SendGrid in Dawn

1. Open Integrations in Dawn and click Add connection.
2. Choose SendGrid.
3. Paste the API key.
4. Enter the verified From email and optional From name.
5. Leave the API URL as the default unless your account uses the EU region.
6. Click Connect.

Link SendGrid source scopes

SendGrid source linking is scope-based. You do not need to link each individual template or Single Send.

• Contact lists and segments: lets assigned agents search contacts and manage contact membership.
• Templates: lets assigned agents search, create, and update dynamic templates and versions, and send templated emails when write tools are enabled.
• Campaigns: lets assigned agents search, create, update, test-send, send, and schedule Single Sends when write tools are enabled.

After linking the scopes, assign them to the agent profiles that should use SendGrid.

What Dawn can do

• Search SendGrid contacts, lists, and segments.
• Add or update contacts and list membership.
• Search, create, and update dynamic templates.
• Send transactional emails through dynamic templates from the configured verified sender.
• Search and manage Single Send drafts.
• Send test Single Sends and send or schedule approved Single Sends.

Contact changes, template changes, campaign changes, and sends are external side effects. The agent must have integration write tools enabled before Dawn exposes those operations.

What Dawn does not copy from SendGrid

Dawn does not replicate SendGrid analytics, delivery dashboards, bounce/open/click reporting, or provider audit history. Use SendGrid for delivery observability and campaign reporting.

Troubleshooting

• Connection fails: the API key is wrong, the selected API host does not match your region, or the sender identity is not verified.
• Tools are missing: confirm the relevant SendGrid source scope is linked and assigned to the active agent profile.
• The agent can search but cannot change or send: enable integration write tools for the agent profile.
• A send fails: confirm the From address is verified, the dynamic template or Single Send exists in SendGrid, and the recipient or audience is valid for that SendGrid account.
