Framer Integration
Use Framer integration to let Dawn inspect a real Framer project, discover pages, and read color and text styles so agents can stay close to the product's visual system.
Before you start
- A Framer project editor URL, not the published site URL.
- A Framer Server API key with access to that project.
- Permission for the Framer account behind the key to open the project, its pages, and its styles.
Framer setup is project-based. Once the connection is valid, Dawn discovers the site, pages, and styles from that project directly. You do not need to paste individual page URLs during discovery.
Create the Server API key
- Create or reuse a Framer Server API key for the account or workspace that owns the project.
- Make sure the key can read the project you plan to connect.
- Copy the key and store it safely. Dawn expects the raw key value.
If you are unsure which key to use, start with the account that can already open the Framer project editor and inspect the project without additional sharing prompts.
Connect Framer in Dawn
- Open Integrations in Dawn and click Add connection.
- Choose Framer.
- Paste the project editor URL into Project URL.
- Paste the Server API key into Server API key.
- Click Connect.
- Review the discovered project, pages, and styles.
- Link only the Framer resources agents should be allowed to inspect.
- Assign those linked sources to the agents that need them.
What Dawn discovers
- Site source: the connected Framer project itself.
- Page sources: individual pages from the connected project.
- Color style sources: reusable color styles from the project.
- Text style sources: reusable typography styles from the project.
That makes Framer especially useful when you want Dawn to reason about design language, page structure, naming conventions, and reusable style decisions rather than only read copy or published pages.
When to link the site vs pages and styles
- Link the site if the agent needs broad project context.
- Link specific pages if the agent should inspect particular routes or sections without seeing the whole project.
- Link color styles and text styles if the agent needs to stay close to the design system when creating prototypes or reviewing UI proposals.
Troubleshooting
- Validation fails: the project URL is wrong, the URL is a published site instead of the editor URL, or the Server API key cannot access that project.
- No pages or styles appear: confirm the key can read the project and that the project actually contains pages and reusable styles.
- Connected the wrong project: Dawn normalizes the editor URL, so reconnect with the exact project you intend to expose rather than a generic Framer workspace URL.
Validation Prompts
Use these prompts in Dawn chat to quickly validate this setup area.
List linked Framer sources and verify I can read the project, pages, and styles I expect.
Check whether this Framer connection is using the right project URL and can access reusable styles.
Completion Checklist
- Framer project URL validated.
- Server API key works for the target project.
- Expected pages and styles discovered and linked.
- Agent can reference Framer-backed page or style context in a reply.
