Personal Connections
Personal connections let Dawn work with the signed-in user's private inbox, calendar, and drive context while keeping that data separate from shared workspace integrations.
Personal Connections vs Workspace Integrations
Workspace integrations are shared sources managed by workspace owners or managers. Personal connections are different: each user connects their own account under My connections, and Dawn uses that context only when acting for that user.
Use personal connections for private work context:
- email you received or sent;
- meetings on your calendar;
- files in your personal drive;
- follow-up work that should stay tied to your signed-in identity.
Do not use personal connections as a substitute for shared workspace sources. If the whole team should rely on a repository, drive folder, tracker, or documentation space, connect it as a workspace integration instead.
Supported Personal Connections
- Gmail
- Google Calendar
- Google Drive
- OneDrive
- Dropbox
- Box
Some providers can be both personal and workspace-scoped. Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, and Box can be connected by an individual user under My connections, or by a workspace manager as shared workspace sources. Personal Dropbox and Box connections are read-only: Dawn can browse, search, and read your files, in conversations and explicitly delegated runs, but cannot change them.
Connect A Personal Account
- Open Dawn Web.
- Open account settings.
- Select My connections.
- Choose the provider to connect.
- Complete the provider authorization flow.
- Return to Dawn and confirm the connection is active.
Each user connects their own account. A workspace owner cannot connect a personal Gmail or calendar account on behalf of another teammate.
How Agents Use Personal Context
When a user asks Dawn to work with their personal context, the agent can use the user’s connected account if the selected agent and workspace allow that personal integration family.
Examples:
Find the last email from Acme about the renewal and summarize the open questions.
Prepare me for my next customer meeting.
Find the latest draft in my drive and turn it into release notes.
Personal context should stay scoped to the user. Dawn should not expose private mail, calendar, or drive content to other workspace members unless the user explicitly asks to share a result.
Writes And Confirmation
Read operations help Dawn find and summarize personal context. Write operations require more care.
Actions such as sending email, changing an event, or modifying a file should require explicit confirmation before Dawn performs the change. Review the action, destination, and content before approving it.
Troubleshooting
- A provider does not appear: confirm personal connections are enabled for the workspace and plan.
- Authorization fails: reconnect from My connections and confirm the provider account grants the requested scopes.
- The agent cannot find personal content: confirm the signed-in user connected the provider and the active agent is allowed to use it.
- A teammate cannot see the same result: personal connections are user-scoped. Share a generated summary or file if the result should become workspace context.
- A token expires: reconnect the provider from My connections.
