Notion Integration
Use Notion integration to let Dawn discover shared root pages, traverse linked page trees, and read documentation from the Notion spaces your team actually uses.
Before you start
- A Notion internal integration token.
- The Read content capability enabled for that integration.
- One or more root pages explicitly shared with the integration in Notion.
- The Notion API URL, normally
https://api.notion.com.
Notion discovery is driven by what the integration can already see. If the integration has not been shared to the page tree, Dawn cannot discover it.
Create the internal integration
- Create a Notion internal integration from your Notion developer settings.
- Grant it Read content.
- Copy the integration token.
- Open the root page or pages you want Dawn to read.
- Share each root page with the integration.
Dawn uses a workspace-owned internal integration in this first release. It does not require Notion public OAuth for the shared documentation use case.
Connect Notion in Dawn
- Open Integrations in Dawn and click Add connection.
- Choose Notion.
- Paste the internal integration token.
- Leave the API URL at the default unless you use a proxy.
- Click Connect.
- Review the discovered root pages and link the page trees you want available in the workspace.
- Assign those linked page trees to the agents that should use them.
What Dawn discovers
Each linked Notion source is a shared root page tree. Dawn can traverse the descendants beneath that root and treat them as a documentation surface for the assigned agents.
- Browse the linked tree by page hierarchy.
- Read page content from descendant pages.
- Use title and path oriented search within the linked root.
Search and scope expectations
- Notion v1 should be treated as a page-tree source, not as exhaustive full-text workspace search.
- Discovery starts from directly shared root pages.
- If you need a newly shared page tree to appear, refresh discovery after sharing the root page with the integration.
Troubleshooting
- No pages appear: the integration probably was not shared with the intended root page in Notion.
- Validation passes but the wrong content is visible: check which root pages were shared with the integration and linked in Dawn.
- Search feels incomplete: that is expected for the current title and path oriented Notion search behavior. Dawn does not market Notion v1 as exhaustive full-text search.
- Read fails for one subtree: the integration may have lost access to that subtree or the page may have moved outside the linked root.
