Google Search Console Integration
Use Google Search Console integration to let Dawn query search analytics for a connected site, inspect submitted sitemaps, and check indexing data for specific URLs.
Google Search Console is a workspace integration. A workspace owner or manager connects it, links the verified sites to use as sources, and assigns those sources to the agents that need them. Access is read-only.
Before you start
- A Google account with access to the verified Search Console sites Dawn should use.
- The Manager role in the workspace, which is required to create the connection.
Google Search Console connects through Google sign-in and requests read-only access.
Connecting Google Search Console
- Open the workspace Integrations screen and add a Google Search Console connection.
- Complete the Google sign-in and consent flow.
- Discover sites and link the verified sites you want to use.
- Assign the linked sources to the agents that should use them.
What Dawn discovers
Dawn lists the verified sites the connected account can access and turns each one into a source. Both domain properties (sc-domain:example.com) and URL-prefix properties (https://example.com/) are supported.
What Dawn can do
Access is read-only. An assigned agent can use these tools:
- Query search analytics for the connected site, with optional dimensions, search type, date range, and row limit.
- List sitemaps submitted for the site.
- Get a sitemap to read its details.
- Inspect a URL to check Google’s indexing data for it.
This lets a team ask why a page is not getting search traffic, whether a launch page has started appearing for the right queries, or whether Google reports an indexing problem on a specific URL.
Troubleshooting
- Sign-in fails or is cancelled: start the connection again and approve the Google permissions Dawn requests.
- No sites appear: the signed-in Google account is likely not verified on the expected sites in Search Console, or the wrong account was used.
- URL inspection fails: confirm the URL belongs to the connected site property and matches its domain or URL-prefix form.
