Google Analytics Integration

Use Google Analytics integration to let Dawn inspect a connected GA4 property, discover its dimensions and metrics, and run read-only reports.

Google Analytics is a workspace integration. A workspace owner or manager connects it, links the GA4 properties to use as sources, and assigns those sources to the agents that need them. Access is read-only.

Before you start

  • A Google account with access to the GA4 properties Dawn should use.
  • The Manager role in the workspace, which is required to create the connection.

Google Analytics connects through Google sign-in and requests read-only analytics access.

Connecting Google Analytics

  1. Open the workspace Integrations screen and add a Google Analytics connection.
  2. Complete the Google sign-in and consent flow.
  3. Discover properties and link the GA4 properties you want to use.
  4. Assign the linked sources to the agents that should use them.

What Dawn discovers

Dawn lists the GA4 properties visible to the connected Google account and turns each property into one source. Assign a property to an agent to let that agent answer questions about it.

What Dawn can do

Access is read-only. An assigned agent can use these tools:

  • Get property metadata for the connected GA4 property.
  • Get metadata for the dimensions and metrics available on the property.
  • Run a report with optional metrics, dimensions, a date range, and a row limit.

Because the agent can inspect the available dimensions and metrics first, a question does not need to name the exact reporting shape in advance.

Troubleshooting

  • Sign-in fails or is cancelled: start the connection again and approve the Google permissions Dawn requests.
  • No properties appear: the signed-in Google account likely does not have access to the expected GA4 properties, or the wrong account was used.
  • A report returns nothing: confirm the date range and that the requested metrics and dimensions are available for the property, which the metadata tool can verify.
