Gmail Integration

Use Gmail integration to let Dawn search your mailbox, read messages, draft replies, and send mail with confirmation, scoped to your own account.

Gmail is a personal integration. You connect it to your own Google account, and it stays scoped to you. It does not become a workspace-wide source, and other members cannot use your mailbox.

Before you start

  • A Google account with the mailbox you want Dawn to use.

Gmail connects through Google sign-in. There is no manual token to manage.

Connecting Gmail

  1. Open Dawn Web and go to your account settings.
  2. Open My connections. This is separate from the workspace Integrations screen used for shared team sources.
  3. Start the Gmail connection and complete the Google sign-in and consent flow.

Dawn requests the Gmail scopes it needs to read messages and metadata, create drafts, send, and modify labels. You grant or decline these during the Google consent step.

What Dawn can do

Once connected, an agent acting for you can use these tools:

  • Search messages for the mail relevant to the task.
  • Read a message in full, including headers, to summarise a thread.
  • Create a draft without sending.
  • Send, reply, or forward a message.
  • Archive a message out of the inbox.
  • Add or remove labels on a message.

You can scope the connection to the whole mailbox or to a specific label.

Write actions and confirmation

Reading, searching, and drafting are available directly. Actions that change something are treated as write actions. Sending or forwarding a message that has a broad recipient list or any Bcc recipients requires explicit confirmation before Dawn executes it. This keeps a mistaken bulk send from going out without a deliberate approval.

Troubleshooting

  • Sign-in fails or is cancelled: start the connection again and approve the Google permissions Dawn requests.
  • No mail is found: confirm you connected the Google account that holds the mailbox you expect, and that the connection is scoped to the right mailbox or label.
  • A send is blocked: a send or forward with a broad recipient list or Bcc recipients needs explicit confirmation. Approve the action to let it run.
