Dawn now supports slash commands in chat. Type / in the composer and you will see a list of available commands — no memorisation needed, no separate help page to find first.
This release ships three commands: /help, /whats_new, and /link.
/help
Type /help to see what commands are available in the current conversation surface. The list adapts based on where you are — some commands are only available in private channels, others work everywhere.
If you want details about a specific command, type /help followed by the command name:
/help whats_new
That returns the full usage description for that command, including any arguments it accepts.
/help is the obvious starting point when you are not sure what Dawn supports. It replaces the need to look up documentation or ask someone else what you can type.
/whats_new
Type /whats_new to see the latest Dawn product updates directly in your conversation. Instead of switching to a changelog page or waiting for someone to summarise what shipped, you get a quick summary right in the chat thread.
You can also ask for updates from a specific time window:
/whats_new 30 days
/whats_new 6 months
/whats_new last year
Dawn pulls from the product changelog and formats the entries for the chat surface. That makes it easy to check what changed without leaving the conversation.
/link
Type /link followed by your email address to start connecting your channel identity to your Dawn account:
/link [email protected]
This command is only available in private channel conversations — Slack DMs, Telegram private chats, Teams personal messages, and Discord DMs. It kicks off the identity linking flow: Dawn sends a verification email, you confirm with a display code, and your channel identity is permanently linked to your Dawn account.
Type /link status to check whether your identity is already linked in the current channel.
The /link command is covered in detail in Link Your Identity Across Channels and Dawn Web.
Discovering Commands
The key design choice is discoverability. You do not need to memorise command names or remember exact syntax. Type / in the chat composer and Dawn shows the available commands as suggestions. Select one and it runs.
Commands are filtered based on context. In a private Telegram DM, you see /link alongside /help and /whats_new. In Dawn Web, you see the commands that apply to that surface. The list stays relevant instead of showing every command everywhere.
What Comes Next
/help, /whats_new, and /link are the starting set. The command system will grow as we identify more actions worth surfacing directly in chat. The pattern stays the same: type /, see what is available, use it.
